Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Details

• Unit: 4N Ortho - Neuro (33 beds, all private rooms)
• Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 6 patients
• Common Diagnoses: Elective surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fractures from falls, back & neck neuro-surgeries, general MedSurg patients
• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA)
• Experience Required: Must have experience with ortho patients and PCA pumps
• EPIC experience is required

Job Responsibilities & Environment

• No RN titration of drips; common drips include IV fluids and PCA pumps only
• Charge Nurse available 24/7; night charge nurse always takes a full patient assignment
• Patient Care Techs (PCTs) assist with vitals, FSBS, ADLs, and Foley catheter removal
• Respiratory Therapy manages CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen
• Remote telemetry monitored by another floor; RNs do not read telemetry strips

Scheduling & Shifts

• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (with a 30-minute lunch break)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Fri-Sun for nights, Sat-Sun for days)
• Holiday shifts depend on unit needs; travelers may be expected to work holidays if permanent staff coverage is insufficient
• Floating: Travelers float first, primarily to MedSurg units; if floated to Tele, assignments will be within skillset
• Block scheduling allowed if unit needs are met

Orientation & Dress Code

• Orientation: 1 day EPIC training, 1 day floor orientation with preceptor, 3rd day working independently
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs; scrub jackets allowed only if royal blue, no hoodies or sweatshirts

Licensure

• WV or compact nursing license required

Additional Notes

• Must submit an unexpired copy of driver’s license with application
• No explicit mention of prior travel experience required
