Job Opportunity: Inpatient Hospital Pharmacist Manager (Day Shift)

Job Description

Seeking a Pharmacist Manager for the Inpatient Pharmacy to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies according to established policies and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce policies and procedures promoting safe and cost-effective medication use.
• Maintain a medical staff approved formulary.
• Supervise medication storage and preparation areas.
• Ensure adequate medication supply and integrity.
• Control and document medications dispensed and controlled substances.
• Maintain competency records and licensure for the department.
• Assume Staff Pharmacist duties as needed.
• Supervise all pharmacy personnel, including job descriptions, performance evaluations, and scheduling.
• Provide educational support for pharmacy staff.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Assist in strategic planning and integration of pharmacy services with organizational goals.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and organizational committees.
• Maintain current pharmacy licensure and attend management meetings.

Requirements

• Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy Degree; PharmD required.
• Licensure: Current Colorado Pharmacy license in good standing.
• Experience: Demonstrated leadership in pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services.
• Skills: Strong regulatory knowledge, clinical judgment, communication, and teaching skills.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Other:

  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions) from Oct 1 through April 1.
  • EPIC experience required. Meditech training is a plus (facility is converting EMR from Meditech to Epic).
• Schedule: Day shift, 40 hours per week.

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 75 miles away from the facility.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

This position is ideal for a pharmacist with strong leadership skills and experience managing inpatient pharmacy operations, who is comfortable working in a hospital setting undergoing an EMR transition.
