Description

Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights
Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend
On-call Requirement: No
Floating: Yes, must float within scope to meet facility needs/float between like units
Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
Locals Accepted: No (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
Pending License Accepted: No
Return to Work Restrictions:

  • Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler under Return Staff Policy
  • System has a 2 contract limit (can only extend once), then must be gone for 6 months to return

Job Details

  • Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU settings
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Military only; required for ED, OR, Peds ED, Peds, PICU
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU units
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually; required for ED, Psych ED, ICUs, Step Down, Med Surg, L&D, Express Care

Competency Exams and Testing

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required as applicable; must be completed via Relias and renewed annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for awareness in ICU and other specified units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with 80% or higher
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for multiple units including all ICUs, Cath Lab, Med Surg, Peds, Psych, Radiology, Special Procedures, Step Down, Tele

Background Checks and Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
  • Physical exam required within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
  • Varicella titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days (specific substances listed)
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved documentation
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but accepted if available

  • Must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Job description acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality and information agreement
    • Patient identification agreement
    • Conflict of interest questionnaire
    • Staff call out acknowledgment
    • Corporate code of conduct acknowledgment
    • Policy tech access acknowledgment
    • Professional appearance acknowledgment
    • Parking registration (if driving)
    • Computer use acknowledgment
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, professional, no large earrings, face piercings, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
  • Modules must be completed prior to start (instructions provided by facility)

  • Candidates must be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult patients in ICU settings
  • Floating between units is required within the scope of practice
  • Strict call-off and return-to-work policies apply
  • Facility enforces a 2-contract limit with mandatory breaks before returning as a traveler

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists comfortable with night shifts, pediatric and adult ICU care, and flexible floating assignments in a Level III Trauma Center environment.
