Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit.
• Must have a minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license.
• Required to work at least every other holiday.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate competency testing will be completed during orientation; passing scores are required.

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics, but BLS and ACLS are mandatory for this role.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience (highest requirement stated).
• No explicit prior travel experience required.

Licensure

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand before starting.

Orientation & Testing

• Pass ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate tests during orientation.
• Complete unit-specific competency exams annually.
• Complete online training modules prior to start; these must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Pass medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Background checks including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
• Drug screening (standard 10-panel) within 12 months.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement and pass/fail testing for EKG/medications.

Documentation & History

• Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Two professional references required from supervisors/managers within the past year.
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams required.

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting must be done both through the agency and at the facility.
• Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
• Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start.
• Must be able to work night shifts and be flexible with holiday scheduling.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system.
