Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU
Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Assignment may include being part of an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or serve on relief teams.
- Shift: 18:45 - 07:15
- Patient Census: 10
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Float: Nurses may be floated to other ICUs if Neuro ICU is overstaffed or other units are critically understaffed.
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Scrub Color: Royal blue
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Neuro ICU
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
- First-time travelers are accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Must be updated annually; can be completed onsite during orientation week
- Epic experience required
- Preferred: NIHSS certification
Licensure
- Active Louisiana RN License or Compact License required upon submission
- License must be current or in the process of renewal if expiring within 30 days of start
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Sex Offender Search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification of highest level required (for roles without state license or interim executive roles)
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccine required for select units (ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Employment application/resume required with 7 years employment history and explanations for gaps
- Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months
- Competency exam specific to specialty, completed within 1 year prior to start, minimum 80% score, updated annually
- Color blind testing (if applicable) updated annually
Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments and potential extended onsite stays during emergency events.
- CPI certification can be completed onsite during orientation if not already held.
- Onsite fit testing for masks available if needed.
