Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Start time between 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM, Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 9 cases per tech
  • On-Call: Yes, 0-5 assignments per month (more is elective)
  • Weekend Requirement: On call as needed
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Pending State License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 5 days

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted, RQI acceptable, certificate of completion not accepted
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CWCN, and other certifications as applicable based on unit/job description
  • State License: Minnesota license verification required (MN EMT-B or MN CNA license required for ER Techs)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
  • CEUs: Must meet state requirements

Clinical Experience Required

  • Work Settings: Inpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology
  • X-ray Procedure Experience: Extremities, Abdomen/GI, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • IR/Angio/Special Procedures Experience: Stents, Angioplasty, Angiograms, Nephrogram, Peripherals, Drainages (upper and lower extremity), Abdomen and Pelvic, Genitourinary Studies, Vascular Studies, Venous Access, Neurological Studies

Background and Health Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year required (7-year standard MN statewide search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination
    • Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start

  • Beds: 672 staffed beds
  • Magnet / Teaching / Level III Trauma Center
  • Scrubs provided by unit
  • Charting system: Excellian/Epic
  • Parking: Flat rate applies

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract for fingerprinting
  • Fingerprinting required with clearance letter or exemption before start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
  • Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules within 72 hours of login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
  • Passport-style photo required within 48 hours of signing contract for badge
  • Skills checklist required annually

This position is suitable for IR Techs with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable with a Monday-Friday schedule, on-call duties, and working in a high-volume acute care setting with a variety of interventional radiology procedures. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
