Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Ambulatory OR RN)
• Shift: 10 hours per day, 4 days per week (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
• Schedule: Scheduled day off based on department needs; occasional late shifts a few times per month
• On-call: No
• Floating: Possible floating within Periop facility as needed
• Block Schedule: May be accommodated at manager’s discretion

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: 1 year
• Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers (implies prior travel experience required)
• Specialty Experience Required: Experience in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Gynecology, Genitourinary, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, Total Joints, and ENT. No general surgery, Labor & Delivery, or pediatrics. Candidates should be well-rounded in specialties aligned with the caseload.

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • South Carolina RN License or Compact License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Radiation badge (must be provided by parent company before starting)
• Preferred/As Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) for certain units
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with manager)

Unit & Patient Care Information

• The unit includes Preop/PACU with 10 RNs and 1 PCT, 20 bays for pre/post patients, 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room.
• Responsibilities include:

  • Prepping patients for surgery (history review, medication reconciliation, vital signs, EKGs, IV starts, FSBS, medication administration)
  • Post-anesthesia care (monitoring vitals, discharge instructions, patient discharge via wheelchair)
• Patient population includes Orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder & elbow cases), Interventional Radiology, and GI procedures.
• Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses in a fast-paced environment.

Work Hours & Time Off

• Guaranteed hours with allowance for being called off 1 shift per 2 weeks (up to 10 hours per 2-week period).
• Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted with the initial application and are subject to facility approval. Multiple RTO requests during the contract (8-13 weeks) may be denied.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Licensure Verification:

  • Primary source verification of SC RN license or compact license
  • NURSYS verification required
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam updated annually
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years or declination), TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• Other:

  • Radiation badge required before starting; may take 5-7 days to process
  • Proof of 2 clinical references
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and training must be completed prior to start

• The facility does not accept first-time travelers for this position; prior travel experience is required.
