Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health - Inpatient (Nights)

Job Description

  • Perform the nursing process as the basis for patient care.
  • Provide direction and oversight to licensed and non-licensed staff.
  • Assess patient care needs, develop and continually reassess plans of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate nursing care with physicians for individuals and groups.
  • Assist in teaching patients and families, provide milieu management.
  • Communicate and educate patients’ families/significant others regarding discharge and aftercare planning.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff in individual and group settings.
  • Document, report, and verify all necessary information according to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report any potential safety risks to physicians.
  • Maintain professionalism and promote positive relationships with coworkers and other departments.
  • Provide care in diverse clinical settings with varied patient populations.
  • Function as a clinical leader by delegating and coordinating staff assignments and promoting staff development.
  • Utilize and review patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care; contribute to process improvements.
  • May train direct care staff and oversee medication and physical health activities indirectly.
  • May be responsible for scheduling, staffing, and obtaining pre-authorizations.
  • Role model the organization’s mission and values through professional appearance, attitude, time management, and communication.
  • Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients.
  • Support and promote a recovery-focused, person-centered approach in community residential settings.
  • Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in required programmatic training.
  • May function as a charge nurse.
