Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Acute Care Hospital
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Speech Language Pathologist)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Call Requirements:
- On Sundays, 4 hours of call only for weekends scheduled to work
- Weekend Requirements:
- Every other Saturday, 8 hours
- On-call Sunday, 4 hours
- Flex off 8 hours the week before and adjusted hours the week after if called in on Sunday
- Floating: Will float between inpatient rehab and acute care units
- Holiday Requirements: Optional holiday shifts paid at time and a half
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Licensure:
- Must have full state license in hand by start date (pending license accepted before start, but no temporary licenses)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
- State License
Candidate Requirements
- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Locals: Not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
- Charting System: Cerner
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 90 days of start, covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcript required
- Physical Exam: Required
- TB Testing: Negative 2-step PPD or Q-gold within 1 year of start (T-spot not accepted)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Mumps: Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Drug Testing: Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, opiates, fentanyl, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and others)
- Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (October–May) or approved medical/religious exemption prior to start
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Medical and religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Additional Notes
- Candidates will be required to complete facility-specific modules prior to start (approximately 8-10 hours) and are paid for this time.
- A clear, passport-style photo is required for badge issuance.
- Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements must be signed before starting.
- Holiday shifts are optional and compensated at time and a half.
This position offers a structured schedule with floating responsibilities between inpatient rehab and acute care, suitable for SLPs with at least 1 year of experience and full licensure. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
