Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers (prior travel experience required)
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (shift start times vary between 06:45-19:15 or 09:00-21:30)
- Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)
- On-Call: Yes, limited to coverage for call-offs
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- Floating: May float to like units within scope if needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 50 miles from facility)
- License: Must have Alaska RN license in hand for auto offer; pending license accepted but must be in hand for auto offer

Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) - Preferred
- Other certifications as required per unit/assignment
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (positive titer and vaccine series required for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- Fit Mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Skills Checklist updated annually (applicable units)
- Epic training modules completion required (specific to Providence system)
- WorkRamp LMS modules:
- Annual Regulatory Requirements for all caregivers
- Specialty-specific modules for ER, L&D, Leadership roles, etc.
- Regional Core and Specialty modules as applicable
- Basics of Trauma Informed Care module required at this facility
Additional Requirements
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
- Floating Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
Notes
- Time off requests (RTO) are approved on an individual basis and must be included in submission
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific background and licensing requirements
- Local candidates are not eligible for this travel assignment
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who hold an active Alaska RN license and are ready for a 13-week travel assignment in Anchorage, Alaska.
