Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Intermediate Care
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Stepdown Intermediate Care (22-bed unit)
- Shift: Days (4x12 hour shifts) and Nights (1900-0730)
- Call Requirements: Yes
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, as needed
- Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
Experience & Certifications
- Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
- First-time Travelers: Accepted (no prior travel experience required)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required for all RNs, must be completed through BlueCloud
- Preferred Certification: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Additional Requirements
- Residency: Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (no locals accepted)
- Background Check: Required within 90 days of start, covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts)
- Physical Exam: Required
- TB Testing: Negative 2-step PPD or Qgold within 1 year of start (T-Spots not accepted)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles) - Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Mumps - Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Rubella - Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Hepatitis B - Titer, series, or declination
- Varicella - Titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
- Drug Testing: Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
- Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (October–May) or approved medical/religious exemption prior to start
- Photo: Passport-style photo with solid background required for badge
Documentation & Compliance
- Completion of facility-specific modules (approx. 8-10 hours) prior to start is required; paid hours for completion
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement must be signed before starting
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccine exemptions allowed with proper documentation
- On-site EKG exam required for Monitor Techs (not applicable for this RN role)

- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
