Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work setting: Post Cardiac Surgery, Post Vascular Surgery unit
- Strong cardiac and post-op heart experience required
- Staffing ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Floating: May be required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, ICU units with provided resources
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be required with training
- Weekend shifts: Expected to work every other weekend; consecutive weekends possible based on operational needs
- Call-in shifts: Must be made up during pay period or added to end of contract depending on FTE status
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates not accepted
- COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Indiana RNs not allowed to work past 11/30/24 except Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- Level 1 or Level II Trauma Experience
- Telemetry
- IV Start
- Cardiac Drips - Titrate
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)

- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Immunizations and titers:
- COVID-19 vaccine required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency exams: Medication test/pharmacology, unit competency exam, color blind testing
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance forms
Additional Notes
- Refusal to float may result in contract termination
- On-site PAPR available at Methodist and University campuses with automatic approval
- Mandatory completion of multiple online training modules prior to orientation (for certain roles)
- Strict adherence to facility policies and documentation timelines required
