• Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Patient Care Details

• Specialty Areas: Oncology, Surgical Trauma
• Patient Types: Mostly post-surgical patients with some stroke overflow
• Procedures/Skills:

  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • TPN and PPN administration
  • NG tubes
  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
  • Foley catheters
  • PICC lines and ports
  • Pain management
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Unit Census: 16 beds

Systems & Tools

• Electronic Medical Record: Epic (required)
• Other Systems: Pyxis, SBAR

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Weekends: Every other weekend (unless otherwise specified)
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call Requirements: None
• Holidays:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
• Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of Non-Billable Orientation Hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Required Documentation & Health Requirements

• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
• Education Verification: Related degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• State License: Georgia RN license verification within 30 days prior to start
• NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
• Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start
• Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Within 12 months of start; if positive history, additional documentation required
• TB Questionnaire: Required for all candidates, updated annually
• Immunizations:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters may be pending if eligible
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may be pending if eligible
  • Hepatitis B: Series, antibody titer, or signed declination
  • Flu Vaccine or Declination: Required for 2025-26 season
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Skills Checklist: Within 12 months, updated annually
• Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Competency Exams (Aya Required)

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Color Blind Testing Online
• Competency Exam (Nursing and Allied)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, ICU, PCU)

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Must review and sign Dress and Professional Appearance Policy

• Locals accepted at same rate
• Floating within facility as needed and within scope of practice
• Clinical screen required to determine fit before final manager approval

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with at least 2 years of specialty experience, comfortable working with adult to geriatric oncology and surgical trauma patients, and who meet the required certifications and compliance standards.
