Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) - Travel/Contract

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the specialty or in a comparable or higher acuity area.
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates. Must be AHA provider or AHA RQI. Other providers not accepted.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for specific RN/unit positions (verify if applicable).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for specific RN/unit positions (verify if applicable).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Recommended for Nursery, NICU, and Labor & Delivery.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Recommended for Emergency Room.
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): AWHONN Intermediate recommended for Labor & Delivery.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required as applicable.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER and Behavioral Health clinical candidates; may be completed onsite.

Licensure & Verification

  • Valid state RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of assignment start.
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health fingerprinting required if the profession does not require an Illinois state license.

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal criminal checks, FACIS III.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification required for highest level of education (ADN or BSN for RN).
  • Transcript/diploma acceptable if education verification cannot be completed.
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start.
  • Employment verification covering last 7 years.
  • Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units.
  • References: Minimum 2 required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask models required).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination within 2 business days of contract signing.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
  • TB questionnaire if positive TB test.
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
    • Varicella
  • Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season or approved medical/religious exemption.

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of facility orientation modules (~2 hours) prior to start.
  • Passport-style photo for badge.
  • COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine exemption forms available for religious or medical exemptions; must be submitted and approved at least one week prior to documentation due date.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license or state ID.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois if required.
  • All documentation and verifications must be completed timely to avoid delays or removal from schedule.
