Job Description

• Acute care physical therapist position at a community hospital
• Work schedule: Monday through Friday
• Local candidates allowed at the same rate
• Must have acute care hospital experience

• Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and submission required for applicable candidates (mostly pediatric and behavioral health units)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Medical fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (PAPR or Pro Gear required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers required; boosters if low titers
• Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
• Drug testing within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for 2025-26 season
• Latex questionnaire required prior to start

Orientation & Competency Requirements

• Pharmacology exam, point of care testing, and airborne precaution mask fitting given at orientation (not pass/fail)
• Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for RNs and LPNs in certain units
• Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (~6 hours)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs/LPNs (not required for RN Case Managers)
• Color blind testing required
• Abuse reporting competency required (covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation)
• Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
