Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum contract length: 13 weeks (will consider)
- RN will rotate through:
- Triage
- Antepartum
- Labor
- Circulate
- Transition (no post-partum)
- Certifications required: NIHSS, BLS, ACLS, NRP
Required Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated, assume minimum 1+ year typical for L&D roles (no conflicting data)

Certifications & Competencies
- Mandatory Certifications:
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all clinical positions)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA accepted

- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – required for Antepartum, L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required for ER, Interventional Radiology, PEDS, PACU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required for ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – preferred for L&D (Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN)
- Competency exams required within 1 year of start, including:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Age Specific Competency Exam
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required and updated annually
Licensure & Verification
- State License verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification for RN required within 30 days of start
Background & Screening Requirements
- 10-year Criminal Background Check required within 30 days of start (all locations lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Texas-specific background checks required within 30 days prior to start:
- Texas DPS Criminal History Search
- Texas Employee Misconduct Registry
- Texas Employability Status Check
- Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation
- Physical Exam required within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- N95 Fit Mask test required within 1 year of start (facility will not accept PAPR)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- Immunizations required (or positive titers/documentation):
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- TDAP vaccine required within 10 years of start
- Flu vaccination or agency declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); mask may be required if declined
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign confidentiality, security, drug screening consent, TB questionnaire, and compliance checklists prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific health record and compliance forms prior to start
