Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Nights)

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years in MS/Tele
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float Requirement: Must float within scope to like units as needed
  • Locals not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • On-call: No
  • Block scheduling: Open to accommodating
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • System Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Patient Ratios

  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)

Competencies & Testing

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required and must be renewed annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for awareness with 3 attempts allowed to pass with 80% or higher
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for MS/Tele and other units

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
  • Physical exam required within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Immunizations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Rubeola (Measles) - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Mumps - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Rubella - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Hepatitis B - vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
    • Varicella - titer or 2 vaccines
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but documentation accepted if available

Facility & Orientation Highlights

  • Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 733
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Royal blue and white
  • Orientation: Majority of the day on Monday, includes meeting with unit representative and schedule distribution

  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, professional, no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious purposes)

  • Guaranteed hours policy: After 2 call-off shifts per 13-week assignment, all contracted shifts are guaranteed
