Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• First-time Travelers: Not accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Floating

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during Memorial Day or 4th of July
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float to all four hospitals within the system (Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, or Viera). ICU nurses are floated to ICU units before PCU.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
• BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• Florida State or Compact Nursing License required at time of submission

Licensure

• Florida State or Compact License required at time of submission
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 professional references from managers, supervisors, charge nurses, or directors within the last year
• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Scrubs: Any solid color, matching
• Block Scheduling: Possible, dependent on unit needs and manager approval
• Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours guaranteed

Compliance & Background Checks

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including social security trace, education verification, sex offender, MVR (for certain care types), and others
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start, including marijuana
• Immunization titers required within 5 years for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven)
• Annual TB questionnaire required

Notes

• Travelers will have a home base but must be flexible to float across multiple hospital locations.
• No call responsibilities.
• Hurricane season (starting in May) requires pre/post storm work.
• Strict documentation and compliance with facility-specific forms and immunization requirements.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses who are comfortable with floating, weekend and holiday shifts, and meeting comprehensive compliance requirements in a travel nursing role.
