Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Melbourne, Florida

Position Details

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)

• Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units or locations within the region
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
• Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours guaranteed

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Florida State or Compact license required at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM for Labor & Delivery)

Special Requirements

• EPIC experience required
• 2 professional references from authority figures within the last 12 months
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Must comply with all background checks and verifications as per facility and state requirements
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
• Fit mask test required within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
• Negative TB or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (or 2 negative PPDs as specified)
• Required immunizations with titers within 5 years: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)

Background Checks & Compliance

• Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 90 days of start
• Monthly HHS/OIG checks
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
• Education verification required; certain institutions are not accepted (facility-specific list applies)

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Travelers must be prepared to float to other units or locations as needed
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• Must submit all required facility-specific documents including photo for badge, insurance (if applicable), and attestation forms

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with EPIC experience who meet Florida licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable with floating and weekend shifts. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-time travelers are not accepted.
