Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Description

  • Position is for hospital float pool staff, expected to float throughout the hospital including the Emergency Department.
  • Weekend shifts: Every other weekend.
  • No on-call required.
  • Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed.
  • Minimum specialty experience required: 2 years.
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required).
  • If major holidays fall during the assignment, traveler is expected to work them (up to two holidays).
  • Full compliance with onboarding and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling.
  • Locals accepted at the same rate.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Prior travel experience not required.

Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for RNs in critical care and emergency-related specialties.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): Required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required if working in PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), or ER.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): May be required depending on specialty area.
  • State RN License: Must be licensed in Georgia.
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: May be required depending on specialty. Must be completed yearly if required.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Facility requires staff to take an online course within a few months of hire if applicable.

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs by Aya).
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related units).
  • General Competency Exam (required for Nursing by Aya).

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by Aya).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start. TB Questionnaire required annually.
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required. Boosters allowed post-start if eligible.
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required. Boosters allowed post-start if eligible.
    • Hepatitis B: Series, antibody titer, or signed declination required.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending. Instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions.
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).

Additional Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification.
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not required by client).
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.

Orientation & Scheduling

  • Orientation hours are non-billable and determined by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time is 7 days.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital float pool environment with exposure to multiple departments including critical care and emergency services.
