Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Rehabilitation
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist evaluates and implements Occupational Therapy plans of care to prevent illness and disability and restore function following injury or illness.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist patients in reaching maximum functional levels using techniques to improve physical health, prevocational skills, homemaking skills, activities of daily living, educational, recreational, and social activities.
- Address sensorimotor, cognitive, and psychosocial components.
- Design and construct splints and adaptive equipment as needed.
- Document patient care and charges.
- Provide leadership and direction for support staff and Occupational Therapy students.
- Participate in professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure compliance.
- Perform related tasks to ensure effective delivery of Occupational Therapy services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.
- Current licensure by the Texas Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

- Ability to provide age-appropriate care and services.
- Skilled in hospital and Radiology Information Systems.

- Maintain professional demeanor and promote good interpersonal relationships.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, and computer use.
- Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone and in person.
- Clear speaking ability to provide information and instructions.
- Visual acuity to read computer screens, forms, and printed materials.
- Manual dexterity for palpation, typing, writing, and handling objects.
- Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting, and moving objects/equipment (approx. 25 lbs. or more with assistance).
- Ability to meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations.
Work Environment
- Indoor work with variable schedules, including possible overtime and occasional weekend hours on short notice.
- Local travel to multiple sites may be required.
- Exposure to temperature changes, hazardous fumes, odors, and infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B, TB).
- Noisy environment with frequent interruptions.
- Duties may involve stressful pressures and deadlines.
- Uniform and accessory restrictions may apply.
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background checks including education verification and criminal history.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date.
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (TDAP required, exemptions considered).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required.
- Two professional references verified within one year of start.
- Completion of Occupational Health Appointment and Orientation prior to start. Orientation typically held once per week on Tuesdays.
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- COVID vaccination highly encouraged but not mandatory.
