Job Summary

The Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist assists Neuro Interventional Radiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as scrub assistant during invasive procedures.
  • Operating angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT equipment.
  • Managing inventory of 1500+ products in the lab.
  • Assisting with neurointerventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, avascular malformations, stroke interventions.
  • Supporting oncology procedures including biopsies, chemo embolizations, and Y-90 Radiopharmaceutical Therapies.
  • Assisting with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations, and peripheral vascular interventions.
  • The department performs over 20,000 procedures annually.

Work Schedule

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Call: Every 3rd weekend and 1-2 nights per week
  • Training: 2 weeks training at a nearby facility
  • Floating: Approximately 2 days per month to another location

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in radiography (neuro experience required)
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • ARRT Registered (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Ohio Radiologic License (pending license acceptable)
  • BLS Certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy, exposure, positioning, physics, radiation protection, and medical terminology
  • Willingness to assist in training permanent staff

  • Cerebral Angiography
  • Discogram
  • Embolization
  • Spinal arteriography
  • Stent placement
  • Thrombolysis/Thrombectomy
  • Vertebroplasty

Certifications & Licenses

  • ARRT registration required
  • Ohio Radiologic State License required
  • BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
  • Additional certifications may be required based on unit standards

Additional Requirements

  • Traveler’s permanent address must be greater than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Must be willing to assist in training permanent staff
  • Background check including 7-year history and criminal screening required
  • Drug screening (9 or 10 panel) within 90 days of start required
  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating clearance to work
  • Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or exemption, and others as per facility policy
  • Fingerprinting required prior to or on first day of orientation
  • Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable
