Job Opportunity: RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RNFA)
• Minimum 18 months recent CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
• Minimum 18 months permanent CVOR RNFA experience prior to travel
• Must have RNFA certification
• Must have experience with vein harvesting
• Must hold a permanent Ohio Active RN License OR Compact RN License
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Certifications & Licenses

• RNFA certification (mandatory)
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required for all candidates
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) not required for CVOR/RNFA
• CNOR (Certified Nurse OR) preferred but not required
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO generally not required for this role
• State License verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Background checks including FBI/BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months and updated annually

Compliance & Documentation

• Two recent references required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty applying for
• Employment application must include 10 years of prior work history (for RNFAs)
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
• Fit mask testing (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B documentation
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Drug testing: Standard 10 panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Job Duties & Additional Information

• Float to Main OR if no CVOR cases are scheduled
• Weekday, weekend, and holiday on-call schedules to be discussed during interview
• Additional credentialing through the facility required prior to start to obtain privileges
• Photo for badge required (headshot with white background)
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) required during orientation unless exempted as a legacy candidate
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required

Summary

This is a travel contract RNFA position requiring significant CVOR and RNFA experience, Ohio licensure, and RNFA certification. Candidates must be prepared for comprehensive credentialing, health screenings, and compliance with facility-specific onboarding and testing requirements. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
