Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse

Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a high-risk Level III NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Must have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE certification
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
  • Work schedule: 36 or 48 hours per week considered

Required Certifications

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA accepted
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA accepted
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA accepted
  • Chemotherapy certification (as applicable)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (as applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (as applicable)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) (as applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RNs
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam

Licensure & Verification

  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Facility-specific documents including Standards of Conduct, Dress Code Policy, Standards of Behavior, COVID Declination (if applicable), HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules, Orientation and Safety Training Modules, Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Employment Application and 2 references within 3 years required
  • Skills Checklist updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; Chest X-Ray within 2 years for positive responders)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declined
