Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele RN)
- Unit: Telemetry unit with PCU level of care; may include ICU and PCU patients as needed
- Shift: Assigned primarily to one shift (day or night) without preference option
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexibility required
- Holiday Requirement: Mandatory holiday shifts; dates determined by unit needs, no requests allowed
- Overtime: Not guaranteed; at management discretion
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow; no ICU care outside scope
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
- Locals: Not accepted (candidates residing in Guam are considered local and will not be considered)
- Travel Partners: Not accepted
- Passport: Current US passport required at time of application
- Return to Office (RTO): Must be approved and included in contract prior to start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 3-5 years preferred
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Licensure: Compact or Guam RN license required and must be in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross; digital certificate required)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross; digital certificate required)
- Additional Preferred/Required Certifications:
- PALS (preferred, AHA digital certificate)
- NRP (for ER; digital certificate, full completion required before start)
- Conscious Sedation (required for ER, ICU, Cath Lab)
- ESI Training (required for ER)
- Certification Renewal: Candidates with certifications expiring within 6 months of start must renew before starting; onsite renewal may be available
Orientation & Testing
- Onsite Testing: Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) during orientation
- Pen and paper format, must be completed in person
- 10 questions each, 80% passing score required
- Two attempts allowed with remediation discussion after first attempt

- Charting System: Allscripts/Sunrise
- Scrub Color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for most areas
- Parking: Free with registration and decal
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Travel: Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly
- Shift Flexibility: Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census
- Background Checks: 7-year background check required within one year prior to start, including criminal and international searches if applicable
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or vaccination series as applicable)
- Flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility-specific form
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year, with specific mask models required; onsite fit testing available if needed
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
Required Training Modules (Must be completed by compliance deadline)
- Pressure Injury Training (NPIAP)
- NIH Stroke Scale Training (NIHSS)
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- FEMA modules (completed onsite)
Documentation & Verification
- Two professional references required (travel, allied, per diem acute care)
- Work history verification for last 10 years required
- Various facility-specific documents and certifications must be uploaded and verified prior to start
Note: Candidates must plan to arrive at least one day before the start date due to long flight times and time zone differences.
