Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Work setting: Neuro ICU, SICU
• No on-call required
• Floating required: Must float to all four hospitals in the system as needed (including Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, or Viera)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or a total of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (schedule determined by unit needs)
• Holiday requirement: Must work at least one holiday during upcoming Memorial Day or 4th of July
• Hurricane season (starting in May): Required to work pre- and post-storm shifts
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Block scheduling: Possible, but depends on unit needs and manager approval
• Scrubs: Any solid color, matching

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Required years of experience: 1 year ICU experience
• Prior travel experience: Not accepted for first-timers (must have prior travel experience)
• Licensure: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• References: 2 professional references from managers, supervisors, charge nurses, or directors within the last year required
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31), with medical or religious exemptions accepted only with proper documentation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks: Must be current within 90 days and cover all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
• Physical exam: Within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing candidates)
• Fit mask test: Required within 12 months prior to start; must be fully shaven for test
• TB testing: Quantiferon Gold within 3 months or 2 negative PPDs (one within 12 months, one within 3 months)
• Immunizations/Titers required within 5 years:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana)
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption documentation required by 10/31 for flu season
• Additional facility-specific documents and attestations required prior to start

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Contracted hours are guaranteed
• Must provide finalized Return to Office (RTO) schedule with submission; no changes accepted after offer
• Must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are flexible with floating and weekend/holiday shifts, and who meet Florida licensure and certification requirements.
