Job Opportunity: RN - Telemetry (Travel)
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel (Full Time)
Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Patients with MI (Myocardial Infarction), CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), Arrhythmias, PVD (Peripheral Vascular Disease), and some medical-surgical overflow.
Job Summary
- Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a similar clinical setting.
- Manage clinical situations, make appropriate assignments, and delegate care.
- Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
Requirements
Education & Licenses
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current RN license in Louisiana or compact state.
- BLS certification (AHA).
- ACLS certification (AHA).
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty required.
Orientation & Competency
- New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days.
- Precepted by trained staff with competency validations including MedSurg-specific.
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs.
- Completion of annual competency verification required.
Work Schedule & Conditions
- Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
- No on-call requirement.
- Floating to other units as needed.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 5:1, occasionally 6:1.
