Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy (Travel/Contract)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

  • License: Must have Alaska RN license in hand for auto offer; pending license accepted but preference for Alaska RN license
  • Locals: Not accepted (candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
  • On-Call: Yes, every 5th weekend
  • Weekend Requirement: On-call every 5th weekend
  • Floating: No floating outside scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Open to accommodating block schedule
  • Guaranteed Hours: 70 hours per 2 weeks; may be called off for one 10-hour shift per 2 weeks
  • Scrub Color: Provided

Required Certifications

  • Mandatory: BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), SGNA Certification
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit-specific needs (refer to clinical track if unsure).

Required Skills

  • Per UD (Unit Description), including but not limited to:
    • EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound)
    • EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound)
    • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
    • ION (Ion Mobility)
    • Colonoscopy
    • Bronchoscopy

Time Off / Schedule Restrictions

  • Only 1 time off request per 13-week assignment, limited to 5 days or less
  • No holiday time off requests allowed for auto offer

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, medically cleared annually for respirator use
  • Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates, updated annually; onsite testing available if needed

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Epic Charting Training: Must complete Epic modules as assigned
  • WorkRamp Modules:
    • Annual regulatory requirements for all caregivers
    • Specialty-specific modules for Endoscopy and related roles
    • Basics of Trauma Informed Care (required at this facility)
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Skills Checklist: Required for applicable units, updated annually

References & Employment History

  • Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with month/year format for dates

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must comply with facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment
  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call responsibilities every 5th weekend
  • Parking is free at the facility
  • The facility is a Magnet hospital and recognized as a Level II Trauma center

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of endoscopy experience, who holds or can obtain an Alaska RN license, and is open to a 13-week travel contract in Anchorage, Alaska. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
