Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - LTAC MedSurg (Night Shift)
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: LTAC Med Surg - Night Shift
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (48 hours/week)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year nursing experience; LTAC experience preferred
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, RQI acceptable, must not expire within 30 days of start
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, and other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (check unit description)
- Licensure:
- Valid RN license with primary source verification required
- License must have no pending actions and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, TB test (True 2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot), Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required
- Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements
Orientation & Testing
- Online Orientation Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required before start
- Pre-Assignment Testing: Medication and Arrhythmia tests required for RNs (except prebook candidates); must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login
- EKG Practice Test and Study Guide: Required for most RNs except certain specialties
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency, core parts I-III, and other unit-specific competencies required annually
Additional Notes
- Floating policy and contractor acknowledgment forms must be signed and are required annually
- Various certifications such as Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) may be required depending on unit
- Lactation certification required for Women’s RN candidates (L&D, Mother/Baby units)
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RN candidates except prebook
- Candidates must carry valid driver's license for computer access setup and while on duty
