Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Position: CVOR RN
• Shift: Combination of 2x8-hour and 2x12-hour shifts, typically between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including on-call hours
• Schedule: Flexible to meet unit needs

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac, vascular, and transplant nursing
• At least 1 year of CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
• At least 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility

Note: Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• EPIC charting system proficiency

Required Skills and Competencies

• General Operating Room skills
• Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplant nursing expertise
• Completion of Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must be current within 1 year and updated annually)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Background and Credentialing

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific requirements apply)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
• State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
• Annual review and acknowledgment of Ethics and Compliance policies
• Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required

References and Documentation

• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
• Employment application and skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit-specific requirements)

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong cardiac, vascular, and transplant backgrounds who are flexible with shifts and able to work in a Level I Trauma environment.
