Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Post Cardiac Surgery, Post Vascular Surgery (PCU)
- Specialty Focus: Strong cardiac and post-op heart experience required
- Staffing Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Floating: May be required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, ICU units; refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Call-Ins:
- 0.9 FTE: Make up call-in shifts during pay period or added at end of contract
- 1.2 FTE: Call-in shifts added at end of contract
- Weekends: Expected to work every other weekend; consecutive weekends may be required based on operational needs
- Charge Nurse: May be required to cover charge nurse duties with training and resources provided
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Locals: Not accepted
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required for all travelers (medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation)
- Indiana RN Restriction: Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed except for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- Level 1 or Level II Trauma Experience
- Telemetry
- IV Start
- Cardiac Drips - Titrate
Experience Requirements
- Strong cardiac/post-op heart experience required

Health & Compliance Requirements

- Immunizations and Titers:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Preferred but not required
- Flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31), no declinations accepted
- TB testing within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT)
- Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Background checks including 7 years of history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually
Additional Notes
- Orientation includes mandatory safety and compliance modules
- Must complete facility-specific forms and acknowledgments prior to start
- On-site Fit Testing available only as last resort and not at all campuses
- Refusal to comply with floating or other operational needs may result in contract termination
