Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Floating required to other units as needed (only to units where qualified and competent)
Patient Population
- Pediatric floors, PICU, ER, NICU
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience with EPIC documentation system
- Experience in Emergency Room, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatric settings required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA Advanced only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- RRT license for South Carolina
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, STABLE, CPI, MAB) – check unit specifics
Licensure
- South Carolina state license required with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification showing all licenses authorizing work in SC
Systems & Equipment
- Medication systems: Pyxis and Omnicell
- Documentation system: EPIC
Floating Policy
- Floating to other Prisma Health units/campuses is mandatory due to census needs
- Floating only to units where competencies have been demonstrated and documented
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including SS trace, aliases, state/county searches, and federal checks as applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Drug screening: 5-panel within 12 months, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for 100% remote)
- Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for badge with specific background and quality requirements
Testing & Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RN candidates (2 attempts, 84% passing score)
- Core Parts I, II, and III training annually (includes universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, etc.)
- Color Blind Testing for nurses in ER and Pediatric ER
- Other competency exams as required by unit
Additional Notes
- Online Cornerstone modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable training onsite
- Floating policy and contractor acknowledgment documents must be signed and are renewed annually
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
This role is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with pediatric and critical care backgrounds who are comfortable working night shifts and floating between units. Compliance with extensive credentialing, immunization, and testing requirements is mandatory.
