Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Floating required to other qualified units as needed
Patient Population
- Pediatric floors (PEDs)
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Emergency Room (ER)
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience with EPIC documentation system
- Experience in ER, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatric settings required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) license for South Carolina
Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- STABLE certification
- CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) for applicable units
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RN candidates
Skills and Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual)
- Color Blind Testing (for ED, Pediatric ER, MLTs/MLSs)
- Core Parts I, II, and III training (annual)
- Competency exams with minimum 80% passing score
Documentation and Compliance Requirements
- Background check (7-year, within 12 months of start) including SS trace, aliases, state/county searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks every 30 days during assignment
- Fingerprinting if applicable (especially for WV residents or certain care areas)
- Education verification (primary source, no diplomas as placeholders)
- State license verification (primary source, valid for South Carolina)
- NURSYS verification for all licenses
- Drug screening (5-panel, within 1 year, updated annually)
- Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years for high-risk areas)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required for onsite workers)
Orientation and Training
- Online Cornerstone Modules (approx. 12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite
- Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and Arrhythmia exams) required prior to start with two attempts allowed
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, specific background and lighting)
Floating Policy
- Floating to other Prisma Health units/campuses is mandatory as per census needs
- Floating only to units where the staff member is qualified and competent
Summary
This travel contract position for an RRT Pediatrics requires a minimum of 1 year of experience with EPIC documentation and pediatric critical care settings including ER, PICU, and NICU. Night shifts with every other weekend coverage and floating to other units are required. Multiple certifications including BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT licensure for South Carolina are mandatory. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, drug screening, and training modules is required prior to start.
