Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cardiac Telemetry)

Location: Clinton, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• Night shift: 18:45 - 07:15
• Weekend coverage: every other weekend
• Float required to other units within the health system as needed (only to units where qualified and competent)

Patient Population

• Adults and Geriatrics
• Inpatient adults with actual or potential life-threatening multisystem or cardiac conditions
• Common cardiovascular diagnoses: sepsis, myocardial infarction (MI), unstable angina, coronary artery disease
• Cardiac patients receiving IV antiarrhythmic therapy, vasoactive infusions, and anticoagulation

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the field (higher experience requirement prevails)
• EPIC electronic health record experience: at least 1 year required
• Experience with special procedures including:

  • Vasoactive drug administration
  • Antiarrhythmic drug therapy
  • Thrombolytic therapy
  • Defibrillation/cardioversion
  • Thoracentesis
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • EKG interpretation
  • Non-invasive blood pressure monitoring

Note: First-time travelers will be considered based on their experience.

Certifications Required

• Registered Nurse license for South Carolina
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, cannot expire within 30 days of start
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC, ENPC, PALS)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including state and county searches for all places lived/worked in last 7 years
• Drug screening: 5-panel within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
  • Current Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (if working in high-risk areas)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
• Photo for badge (passport-style, specific background and quality requirements)
• Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start (approximately 12-16 hours)
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests
• Floating policy acknowledgment (required annually)

Additional Notes

• Floating to other units within the health system is mandatory as per policy, but only to units where the nurse is qualified
• Online modules and pass/fail testing must be completed before starting the assignment; no exceptions
• Fit testing for respirators will be completed onsite during orientation
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but first-time travelers will be reviewed based on experience
