Job Summary
- Administer radiation therapy using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam)
- Document treatments in Meditech and Aria systems
Education & Certification Requirements
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Therapy
- Current registration as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) with the ARRT(T)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification meeting American Heart Association standards, renewed every two years
Key Responsibilities
- Verify diagnosis, prescription, patient chart, and patient identification
- Explain treatment plans and communication procedures to patients
- Prepare treatment room and equipment according to prescription, including immobilization devices and treatment parameters
- Observe radiation safety measures for patients and staff
- Maintain communication with patients during treatment
- Operate and perform CT simulation procedures and equipment
- Perform patient timeouts as per department policy
- Monitor treatment area for skin changes and side effects; notify physician as needed
- Assist with ordering supplies and maintain complete records
- Comply with quality improvement initiatives and departmental policies
- Maintain patient markings and perform scheduling and clerical duties
- Conduct safety checks on equipment and report any issues
