Description

Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech (Surgical Services)

Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 months recent CVOR Tech experience (must be permanent CVOR experience prior to travel).
  • Scrub experience required, including Scrub Open Heart experience.
  • Must be able to work 1-2 weekday call shifts and 1 full weekend (24 hours Saturday and 24 hours Sunday) every 6 weeks.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required to qualify for submission.
  • Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation with acceptable scores.

Certifications & Competencies

  • CVOR National Certification required (NBSTSA or ACST).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all candidates.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) not required for CVOR.
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication Testing required during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6 months gap between contracts).
  • State License Verification required within 30 days of start; license must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific competency exams required annually.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
  • Fit Mask (N95) test within 12 months of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Background & Compliance

  • Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search and education verification. Must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for orientation testing.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous onboarding process including multiple assessments and compliance checks.
  • This position requires flexibility for call shifts and weekend coverage.
