Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Melrose, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse with float to Med Surg
- Float Locations: Will float to 3 campuses within the system (Melrose, Long Prairie, Sauk Centre)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days/Nights flexible
- Shift times: 0700-1930 & 1900-0730
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum every third weekend (may be adjusted to every or every other weekend)
- On-call: Not required
- Patient Ratios:
- Days: 1:4
- Nights: 1:6
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- At least 2 years in Emergency Department (ED)
- At least 1 year in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
Licensure & Certifications
- Licensure:
- Minnesota RN license required (can be pending)
- Minnesota is NOT a Compact state
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Pending License: Accepted
Job Requirements & Preferences
- Must float within scope to meet facility needs, including Med Surg and multiple campuses
- Cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No RTO within first week; max 10 days RTO per assignment
- General Emergency Department experience with combined Adult/Pediatric care required
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- OB experience preferred

Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check required within 1 year of start, including:
- 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide
- Education verification (not required for CNAs)
- International searches if candidate lived/worked outside US
- GSA/SAM and OIG excluded provider checks required
- Diploma acceptable in lieu of third-party education verification (with proof of attempts)
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (9 panel) within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccination (no religious declination accepted)
- Negative TB or chest X-ray per MN state guidelines
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) positive titer or 2 vaccines (time sensitive)
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
- Varicella positive titer or 2 vaccines (time sensitive)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually (mask required if declined)
Additional Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually (not required for NICU RNs)
- Competency exams required as applicable by profession, updated annually
- Two references from recent employers within 2 years required
- Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates
- Candidate must complete facility-specific education modules (approx. 16 hours) during orientation
- Dress code must be reviewed prior to start
This position offers guaranteed contracted hours and requires flexibility to float between units and campuses within the healthcare system.
