Registered Nurse - ICU Nights and Weekends

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, plan and implement patient and family education, and initiate appropriate interventions. This role requires working in a busy, stressful environment with varied shifts including nights and weekends.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Montana RN Licensure
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 6 months of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification within 8 months of hire
  • American Heart Association PALS certification within 8 months of hire
  • Competence and willingness to practice modified primary nursing

  • Collect comprehensive patient health data and perform assessments
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care
  • Promote health and safety in the environment
  • Continuously improve nursing practice quality and effectiveness
  • Maintain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing standards
  • Evaluate own nursing practice against professional standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into practice
  • Provide leadership within the professional practice setting

Stroke Competency

  • Comply with policies and protocols for hyperacute and acute stroke care
  • Complete 2 hours of initial stroke education within one year of hire
  • Participate in 1 hour of annual stroke education

Schedule Requirements

  • Regular and sustained attendance required
  • May work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours
  • On-call work may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Sitting, standing, walking repeatedly for extended periods
  • Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling
  • Reaching above shoulder level and pushing/pulling repeatedly
  • Continuous fine finger movements and close visual acuity
  • Continuous cognitive skills for learning, focus, and decision-making
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations

Additional Information

  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
  • Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
