Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Start Date: March 30 (firm)
  • Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
  • Experience Needed: General, Orthopedic, Neurology, Trauma, and ENT experience required
  • Pediatric experience preferred
  • Call required
  • Schedule: Variable shifts (3x12s or 4x10s) with rotating days off and call; no block schedule; schedule varies weekly and no set days guaranteed

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse with experience in OR settings as noted above
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year OR experience given specialty requirements

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required:
    • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
    • PALS (required for pediatric areas such as ER, PACU, Interventional Radiology, Peds)
    • NRP (required for Antepartum, L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU as applicable)
    • TNCC (required for ER and trauma areas)
    • EFM (preferred for L&D)
    • State RN License (Texas)
    • NURSYS Verification for RN license within 30 days of start
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all clinical positions)
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable):
    • Chemotherapy certification
    • ENPC
    • Tech Cert Verification for allied roles if applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 10-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal History Search within 30 days of start
  • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry and Employability Status Checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable (especially for Cath Lab, CVOR, L&D)
  • Confidentiality and Security Agreement signed prior to start
  • Drug Screening and Blood Testing Consent Form signed prior to start; onsite drug screen during orientation
  • TB Questionnaire and Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (time sensitive)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit Mask (N95) test within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
  • Annual update of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Flu vaccination or agency declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen upon arrival

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • General Competency Exam within 1 year of start
  • Age Specific Competency Exam within 1 year of start

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and call requirements
  • No block scheduling allowed
  • Variable shifts to be discussed during interview

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with diverse surgical experience who are flexible and able to work variable shifts with call responsibilities.
