Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ED Holding/CICU, PCU focus)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Contracted to the Emergency Department (ED) unit, specifically caring for inpatient/CICU level holds in ED.
  • Strong Progressive Care Unit (PCU) background required within the last year.
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred but not required.
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW).
  • First-time travelers accepted only if they have EPIC experience and 2 years of nursing experience. No first-timers with only 1 year experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Must have a strong PCU background within the last year.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider only.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider only.
  • EKG test on arrival.

Patient Diagnoses You Will Encounter

  • Chest Pain
  • Syncope
  • Heart Failure
  • Sepsis
  • Overdose
  • GI Bleed
  • COPD
  • Pneumonia
  • Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Oncology, Orthopedic overflow
  • Post-catheterization with stent (no CABG)
  • ICD/Pacer insertions
  • Cardioversions

Unit Details & Special Procedures

  • Manage and titrate drips (Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labatolol, Dopamine, Dobutamine) - required.
  • Use of special equipment including Bipap, Cpap, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, Phillips Monitoring System.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check within 30 days of start, including Social Security verification, criminal searches (excluding NH counties), sex offender registry, education verification, and more.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period).
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required.
  • Two current professional references within the last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Annual internal evaluation for travelers with Aya or agency experience over 1 year.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
  • Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent).
  • Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start (2-step PPD or equivalent).
  • TB questionnaire required for all travelers.
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
    • Varicella (history of disease NOT accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during October 31 - April 1 period (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation).
  • Drug testing and immunization documentation must be current and compliant prior to start.

Additional Requirements

  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/Dysrhythmia within 48 hours of contract signing for certain units.
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (OSHA education documentation).
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification preferred.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred.

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned. First-time travelers accepted with conditions (EPIC experience and 2 years nursing experience).
