Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Olney, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Summary

Seeking an ER Registered Nurse with general adult and pediatric emergency department experience. First-time travelers are accepted, but Cerner experience is required.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in the specialty (ER).
  • General ED adult and pediatric ER experience required.
  • Cerner experience required.
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required (first-time travelers accepted).

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or ARC certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Must be AHA or ARC certified
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section

Work Schedule

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours each (1900-0700)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required

Compliance & Documentation

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position.
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, licenses, and contact information.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years of start (minimum 80% score).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A) required within 1 year of start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate.
  • Orientation and facility-specific modules must be completed prior to start.
  • Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function.

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a busy emergency department with both adult and pediatric patients. Candidates must be prepared for night shifts and holiday/weekend rotations.
