Description

Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) - Operating Room (Days)

Location: Midland, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Prepare the surgical suite by assisting the surgical technologist and registered nurse with gathering equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Ensure all supplies and equipment are available and in working condition for procedures.
  • Assist the surgeon during operations by providing exposure, aiding in hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions.
  • Perform tasks such as draping, retracting, suctioning, sponging, suturing, tissue handling, cautery techniques, and applying appropriate dressing materials.
  • Collaborate with the operating room team to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Assist with patient transportation, positioning, and total care as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
  • Active certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completed skills checklist relevant to the CSFA specialty within the last year.
  • Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior travel assignment history is preferred but not required.

Additional Information

  • EMR system used: Epic
  • Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs
  • Candidates must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered).
