Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Indiana state license (IN license) required.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- RRT credential required
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years total experience in specialty
- At least 18 months recent ICU experience
- Education: Must be accredited through CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA.
Additional Requirements
- Shift: Every Weekend (EW) required
- Floating: Must be willing to float between multiple hospital locations within the system.
- First Time Travelers: Accepted (no prior travel experience required).
- Mandatory Facility-Specific Training:
- Completion of 22 mandatory RRT modules prior to orientation (includes topics such as Environment of Care, HIPAA, Infection Prevention, Mechanical Ventilation Management, etc.)
- Modules must be completed by the Friday prior to start date.
- Background Checks:
- Comprehensive background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations/vaccinations: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for RRTs)
- Unit competency exam
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- References: Minimum of 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years.
- Employment Application: Must be current with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Skills Checklist: Required within 12 months and must be updated annually.
Important Notes
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at these facilities except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers. This does not affect Respiratory Therapists.
- On-site fit testing is limited and only available as a last resort at certain campuses.
- Proof of valid driver’s license or passport required.
- HIPAA acknowledgment and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start.
This position offers a structured travel contract with comprehensive support and mandatory training to ensure compliance and readiness for the facility's standards.
