Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Titusville, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room (ER) with a focus on acute care and neuro/stroke patients. This is a travel/contract position requiring flexibility and the ability to float within the scope of practice.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
  • Minimum 1 year of neuro/stroke experience
  • Must have completed 2 previous travel assignments (prior travel experience required)

Work Details

  • Patient Ratios: 1:6
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float: Yes, within scope
  • Local candidates not accepted (must live more than 30 miles from facility)
  • Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Return to Office (RTO) parameters: No more than 10 days off, with an additional 2 weeks added to assignment if taken; no RTO during first or last week of assignment

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except PACU, OR, Women’s Center, or Case Management)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with Level 1 resuscitation patients
  • Must comply with facility-specific orientation and competency requirements
  • Must adhere to strict attendance policies (3 call outs result in termination)
  • Holiday work requirements apply depending on number of holidays during assignment

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital with 210 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Meditech
  • Dress code: Any scrub color allowed; no tee shirts, sweatshirts, or logos from other organizations
  • Free parking in unrestricted spaces

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Background check within 6 months, including Social Security trace, nationwide checks, education verification, and more
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Education verification (ASN, BSN, or MSN)
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Required vaccinations or documented immunity for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • COVID-19 (documentation required; exemptions allowed with facility forms)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and quizzes prior to start
  • Two professional references within two years of start
  • Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable
  • Skills checklist and competency exams with passing scores as required

Important Notes

  • Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during the first week
  • Flu vaccine or declination documentation is encouraged but not required for contract workers
  • Candidates must review and sign multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and policies prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with prior travel assignments who are ready to work in a fast-paced acute care environment with neuro/stroke patient care experience.
