Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in monitoring telemetry patients preferred
• Must be able to pass the telemetry test
• IV start and general nursing skills including IVs, monitoring, labs, medication administration, and patient education
• EPIC electronic health record experience required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active RN license in Ohio
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually
• Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) — verify per unit specifics

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start)
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
• Annual background monitoring including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Completion of facility-specific compliance forms and training (e.g., Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training, Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs (with exceptions for certain units or remote positions)
