Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Provide respiratory care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, Pneumonia, Respiratory Failure, and Respiratory Infections.
• Perform special procedures such as ABG sampling, ventilation management, patient assessment, and pulmonary hygiene.
• Use specialized equipment including Servo-U, LTV, NKV330, AirVo2, and V60.
• Float between Long Term Care (LTC) and Acute Care units as needed.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (EOW), major and minor holidays, and on-call coverage required.
• Patient ratio experience required: 1:15.
• Unit accepts first-time travelers depending on experience level.
• Local candidates must live more than 50 miles away.
• Scrubs: Gray or Gray/Black combination.

Required Skills & Experience

• Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience.
• Proficient in airway management including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, intubation assist, nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy suctioning.
• Experience with sputum specimen collection, handheld ventilators, T-piece, trach collar, bag and mask ventilation, ET tube management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP.
• Skilled in troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation.
• Long term care experience preferred.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license (Primary source verification required within 30 days of start).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted.

• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but primarily BLS and ACLS are essential.

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification from primary source.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and updated monthly.
• Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable.
• Education verification required; transcripts/diplomas if no verification on file.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements

• Float between LTC and acute care units as needed.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage required.
• Must be willing to travel and work in different care settings.
