Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Unit

Location: Athens, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit & Work Setting

  • Telemetry Unit
  • Patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, cardiac diseases
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Unit census: 17 beds with nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Floating: Yes, only to sister units within the service line
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Registered Nursing (Telemetry or related cardiac care)
  • 1st time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Required Competencies

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (required for Nursing by Aya)

License Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia

Compliance & Onboarding

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, must be complete prior to start
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start (can start with TB test pending if TB questionnaire on file)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, results must be available before start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination or declination
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not client)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)

  • Return to Office (RTO) timeframe: Maximum 7 days
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating only within service line sister units
  • No call requirements
