Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Environment
- Cardiac Telemetry Unit
- Patient ratio: 1:5
- 16 beds with average daily census of 16
- Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Weekends: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience as a Registered Nurse (higher value confirmed)
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Clinical Skills & Knowledge
- Post MI, Heart failure, Arrhythmias, Chest pain, Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Peritoneal Dialysis
- Telemetry, EKG, Doppler
Orientation & Compliance
- Return to Orientation (RTO) max 7 days
- RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays may push start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Required Licenses & Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
- Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if prior positive)
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer with booster protocols
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster protocols
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (includes Amphetamines, Methamphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene, THC)
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units)
- General Competency Exam for Nursing
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Two clinical references required
Dress Code
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
