Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- May be asked to float to other campus or floors; flexibility required
- Must live within 150 miles of the facility
- Proficiency required as a circulator
- 3 years of experience preferred (1st time travelers accepted)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Texas
- Minimum 3 years of specialty experience preferred
- Prior travel experience not required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification (highest level) required
- State-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required; annual update required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; time sensitive (within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
- Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
- Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination; booster or declination post titer acceptable
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if negative/equivocal
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
Competency and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for Telemetry nurses (if applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test) required
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
Facility Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including:
- Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
- TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
- Patient Centered Pledge
- Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
- Computer Security Agreement
- Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
- Confidentiality Statement
- Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
- Self Identify Form
- Relationship to Physician Form
- Authorization for Background Check
- Traveler Identification Form
- Candidate must complete orientation modules (~3-4 hours) and other onboarding documentation
References and Documentation
- 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
- Copy of resume/application required
Additional Notes
- Flexibility to float to other units or campuses is expected
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Must be proficient as a circulator in Labor and Delivery setting
