Job Summary
- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Night shift
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 733
- Charting System: Epic
- Schedule: Nights, weekends/holidays required, every other weekend off
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
- Block scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals accepted: No (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
- On-call: Not required
- Return to Work (RTO) restrictions: 4 days allowed of RTO, no holidays; call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment, after which hours are guaranteed
- Must be comfortable working with both adult and pediatric patients in ICU settings
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT (higher value confirmed)
- License: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for North Carolina (pending licenses not accepted)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Military only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Military only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Military only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for applicable units
- Competencies:
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication with remediation policy
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual update required)
- Background Checks: Must have a background check within 6 months of start date including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Flu vaccine required year-round or signed facility flu acknowledgment/exemption form
- COVID-19 vaccine not required but accepted if available
Additional Information
- Must comply with facility-specific policies including professional appearance, confidentiality, patient identification, and corporate code of conduct
- Required to complete facility-specific documents and training modules prior to start
- Must submit a professional passport-style photo for badge issuance
- Return Staff Policy: Must be off assignment for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- System contract limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be off for 6 months before returning
- Must be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult ICU patients
- Floating between units as needed within scope of practice
